Foxtrot is a genre of music for dancing, a speedy, action-packed music with a predecessor in ragtime, which originally originated in the United States at the end of the 19th century. In the 1920s and 1930s, after World War I, jazz and foxtrot became very popular in Europe as a symbol of American culture, which people had longed for. The trend spread to Switzerland, which was a popular tourist spot, and the owner of a luxury hotel boasted, "The only place where you can hear real jazz is here and at the Savoy Hotel in London. This album includes tangos and blues from the film music of Honegger, who has dual Swiss and French citizenship, as well as dance music, including many world premiere recordings by Swiss composers whose names are virtually unknown today.
