Composer Robin Stevens was born in 1958 in Wales, England. He sang in choirs and studied piano from an early age, majored in cello and musicology at university, and began composing in his 20s while working as a church music director. He is very popular in the UK. This album presents his works for ensemble. Chasing Shadows" and "Obsession," the title of the album, explore the fascination of the instrument, with the double bass playing the leading role. In two pieces, "Fantasy Trio" and "Romantic Fantasy," the flute takes center stage, while other instruments such as guitar and harp are combined in pursuit of a fresh sound. Another recent work, "Clarinet Quintet" in four movements, uses the A clarinet. Its slightly melancholy tone and ensemble with strings are captivating. Naxos Japan
