A French-American based in France and Chicago, Lepaoux made his Paris debut at the age of 10. Named "Chicagoan of the Year" by the Chicago Tribune in 2012, Lepaoux has been praised by the New York Times for his "singing tone" and by the Chicago Tribune for his "prodigious pianistic talent. The New York Times called him a "singing tone" and the Chicago Tribune acclaimed him as a "prodigious pianist. Lepaoux has previously performed J.S. Bach's "Mean Clavier Works" and Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations" (delivery only). This album is a compilation of Debussy's Preludes, which were recorded in 2007 and released in two volumes for distribution only. Lepaoux, who is known for his disciplined playing in the German repertoire, shows a different, softer, and more delicate face here. The worldview that emerges when listening to the entire collection, not to mention the excellence of the performances of the individual pieces, is an expression that only Lepaoux could have created.
