The long-awaited Bach and all-lute works by the master Mascardi! Born in Buenos Aires, Mascardi has earned the trust of many renowned ensembles, including Esperion XXI, Ensemble 415, Il Giardino Armonico, and Zefiro, as a bassist and soloist, and has been highly acclaimed in such works as the Castaldi cycle (A368), Saint-Luc cycle (MEW Mascardi, who is also highly acclaimed as a soloist for his works such as Castaldi (A368), Saint-Luc (MEW 1786), and Music of the Golden Age of Spain (A481/NYCX-10169), has finally recorded all of Bach's lute works. Bach's lute works are known for their many fingering and tonal problems, and some believe that some of them were written for the harpsichord (lautenwerk), which sounds similar to the lute. Here, too, the composer seems to have made use of irregular tuning based on past tablature scores, and in BWV 996 and 1006a, which are incompatible with the baroque lute's D minor-based tuning, he transposed the strings as is customary. This allows the music to be more expressive, and Mascardi's detailed and bold expression enhances the beauty of the music. Although the pitch is not specified, A=415 is used. The recording is also beautiful, picking up the acoustic of the venue well.In the booklet of the original recording, Frederic Gigante, the producer of this recording and the author of many recordings of guitar music from Bach to modern times, has contributed a discussion on the formation of Bach's lute works, which will be translated into Japanese in the domestic edition.
