Description:
The album features violin sonatas by three female composers who lived in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Swedish-born Elfrida Andrée was an activist in the women's liberation movement in her native country and the first female composer in the Scandinavian countries to be appointed as a regular cathedral organist. This violin sonata was only known to exist in her catalog of works, and this album is the world premiere recording. Mel Bonis is a French composer who has attracted increasing attention in recent years. Her real name is Melanie Bonis, but realizing that her female works were rarely performed, she used the neutral pseudonym "Mel Bonis" to publish her works. Ethel Smythe of England was also known as a women's liberation activist and published her works while engaging in social activism. In their time, it was difficult for women to work as composers, and they had to overcome various obstacles. Annette-Barbara Vogel is a German violinist.He has won prizes in numerous competitions and is active as a soloist and chamber musician. His albums by Hans Gall are highly acclaimed. Naxos Japan
