Description:
Rimsky=Korsakov's masterpiece opera "The Snow Girl," directed by the genius Cherniakov and performed at the Paris Opera House, features the Snow Girl (Sneglachka), the daughter of the Spring Spirit and the Winter King, who lives in the forest with the Winter King. She wishes to live in Berendi, the land of men, with the shepherd Raeli, who is a good singer, and her parents allow her to do so. When she visits Berendi, she approaches Raeli, but is unable to win his heart because her heart is still cold and has never known love. The emperor of Berendi, whose summers have been shortened for many years by the wrath of the sun god Yarilo, attempts to break his wrath with a festival in honor of Yarilo. There, he learns of true love for the first time, and his heart warms and the snow girl melts... The Snow Maiden" is considered one of Rimsky-Korsakov's greatest operas, with its use of light motifs, skillful portrayal of human and spiritual beings, and colorful orchestrations of Russian nature and folk customs. In the Paris Opera production of this recording, Dmitry Cherniakov, the world's most sought-after genius, boldly replaces the Berendi State, the setting of "The Snow Girl" based on a Russian folk tale, with a cult that attempts to recreate a primitive Slavic community in the modern age. Aida Garifullina, who sings the Snow Girl in a dainty role, is a talented young Russian-born soprano. Yuri Minenko, one of the best countertenors in the world, gives a wonderful performance as the mysterious shepherd Leri. Mikhail Tatarnikov has been the Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Orchestra since 2012, and has made guest appearances at the most prestigious opera houses in Europe, including La Scala, the Bavarian State Opera, and the Paris Opera. and the Paris Opera House.
