Founded in 2006, "musica viva" is a series dedicated to documenting and preserving contemporary music concerts organized by the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation that have existed since 1945. The theme composer for Volume 36 is German contemporary music composer Enno Poppe. Currently the signature composer of Ricordi Berlin, his works are known for their use of contrasting and complex sound patterns, and the two works included on this album are "Fett," which begins with an ethereal sound, and "ICH KANN MICH AN," a magnificent work spun by chorus, organ, and orchestra NICHTS ERINNERN".
