The album contains three cantatas related to the Day of the Trinity. No. 25, for the 14th Sunday after Trinity, is a lonely piece with an overall dark tone. The lyrics also contain many references to illness and speak wistfully of the weight of human sin, but the peaceful chorale at the end seems to save everything. No. 162 for the 20th Sunday after Trinity is another simple piece with austere content. The simple beauty of the soprano aria in the third piece is impressive. No. 94 for the 9th Sunday after Trinity is a cantata in which the flute plays a major role. The superb virtuosity of the flute that colors the chorus from the first piece is a must-hear. (C)RS
