Ishizuka Takamitsu

Description:

This is the latest work by Japan's greatest flamenco singer, Takamitsu Ishizuka, after an eight-year absence. This is a unique and ambitious work that weaves his own tapestry of representative songs from a wide range of Spanish-speaking countries, including Joaquin Rodrigo and Manuel de Falla. The album was completed after three years of work by Takamitsu Ishizuka, one of Japan's finest cantaors in both name and reality, and is the latest work full of originality that has taken flamenco music to new horizons. The album title "Retorno (al Clasico)" means "return to the classics. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his conversion from flamenco guitar to cantaor as a vocal performance student, and while he has adopted his vocal skills, which can be said to be his roots, he sings not in a pure bel canto style, but as a "cantaor" with his own unique and distinctive singing style that can be found in cante flamenco. This is a wonderful work that combines tradition and novelty. The repertoire includes world-famous songs from Spain and Spanish-speaking countries (Argentina and Mexico).Manuel de Falla, one of the most famous Spanish composers of the 20th century, has compiled a superb collection of folk songs and dances from Aragon, Andalusia, Asturias, Murcia, and other regions of Spain in his masterpiece "Seven Spanish Folk Songs". In addition, the world-famous songs "Aranjuez of My Heart" (Aranjuez Concerto, 2nd movement) by Rodrigo, a representative Spanish composer, and "Granada" by Augustín Lara are sung. From Argentina, the album includes the famous song "Song of the Forgotten Trees" by Alberto Hinastera, the most important classical composer in Latin America, who is considered alongside Villa-Lobos (Brazil) and Chavez (Mexico), and the famous song by Carlos Guastavino, who left many genres of music. In particular, "Seven Spanish Folk Songs" and "Aranjuez of My Heart" are rare compositions in the world, so much so that they were officially approved by the Falla Foundation and the Joaquin Rodrigo Foundation, which have strict arrangement control. The members are Mami Ishizuka (piano), Kiichiro Komobuchi (wood bass), Gen Ogimi (percussion), and guest Jun Hayakawa, who continues to expand the possibilities of the bandoneon, on M3.In November 2023, the band performed the repertoire of this album live for the first time at COTTON CLUB, and their ally Oki Hitoshi joined them as a guest, which was a great success in terms of singing, performance, and planning.
