Jazz singer Chie Nishimura's first album.
This album is arranged by Ryuichi Takase, a trumpet player who admires Miles Davis, and she sings alongside the instrumentalists rather than with the singers and accompanists. The arrangement was made with the atmosphere of Miles Davis' classic album "Kind of blue" in mind, which runs through the entire album. In addition to Takase (tp), he is surrounded by first-rate members: Hideo Oyama (as), who played in Sharps & Flats; versatile veteran Toru Tsugiki (p); Taro Koyama, one of Japan's leading drummers; and solid mid-level bass player Yutaka Takase, who sings. The result is so wonderfully crafted that it will touch the hearts of many who hear it.
She was born in Akune City, Kagoshima Prefecture. She loves music and played the trumpet in elementary school. When she was in junior high school, she saw Satchmo singing and playing on TV and was so impressed that she said, "Jazz is fun. Let's sing together! I felt as if Satchmo was saying to me, "Jazz is fun. He bought Ella Fitzgerald's CD and spent all hours of the day listening to her songs and humming along with her, eventually memorizing them all.After graduating from a music college (Shikatan, vocal music department), she worked as a Jazz Singer in Kagoshima and Fukuoka. 2000, she moved to Tokyo, but stopped all musical activities and it was thought that we would never hear her sing again.
In 2008, an acquaintance whom she met again by chance invited her to sing at the opening party of a club in L.A. She was invited to sing at the party. In 2013, she started to perform live in Tokyo in earnest. With the advice of many collaborators, she has also started a label called "en records". This album is the first work on the label.
