This seventh album for the ONDINE label by the virtuoso Christian Tetzlaff is a collection of works by two Eastern European composers. The main work is Dvorak's Concerto. The impressive melody at the beginning of this work is a distinctive feature, and the passionate melody of the violin part is a joy to listen to. The appealing sadness of the second movement and the gracefulness of the third movement, which is a dance piece, are all incomparable when performed by a skilled musician. Suk's Fantasy is a work filled with a sense of urgency in which the very phrases of the "Slavonic Dances" are developed in various ways, and you may be surprised by its varied musical ideas. Dvořák's "Romance" placed at the end, originally the second movement of String Quartet No. 5, is a beautiful work with a melancholy, unmotivated atmosphere.
