Description:
Julius Leupke (1834-1858) was a German composer who died at the young age of 24, perhaps because he was so richly talented that God loved him. He had a father who was an organ builder, showed musical talent from his childhood, and studied under Liszt at the recommendation of Hans Bülow. However, he died of sudden illness just as he was about to begin his career. The compositional power and complex harmony in the organ sonata "Psalm No. 94," which is only one piece, and the expression filled with anger and sorrow, as if one were suffering the pains of hell, make it hard to believe that this is the work of a young man in his twenties. The piano piece, which is generally filled with darkness, is also profoundly beautiful. The sympathetic tone of Michael Schecht, who plays both organ and piano, seeps into the heart. Naxos Japan
