The second film music album from the Piazzolla specialist group [ElCielo2020], *Cinema Nostalgia II: Destiny*. While the previous album, *Longing*, explored foreign films, this work delves deeper into the memories of Japanese cinema. For the famous piece “Fate” from the film *The Vessel of Sand*, which had never before been permitted to be arranged, the group obtained the first-ever official permission from the film’s rights holders, making it possible to record a new version after 50 years. The original score for piano and orchestra has been reimagined for a piano, strings, and flute ensemble, portraying the torrent of sorrow and the intensity dwelling in the human heart with a contemporary sound. Furthermore, this 2-disc set features a total of 16 tracks, including Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence,” Toru Takemitsu’s “The Face of Another” and “Small Sky,” and Takashi Yoshimatsu’s “The Wife of Villon.” Through the unique tension and passionate performances characteristic of ElCielo2020, these masterpieces are revived with new life and drama.
