[Theodor Klulenzis' repertoire is considered to be more baroque and classical, but it is actually quite wide-ranging, and even before joining Sony Classical, he won a Record Academy Award for his Shostakovich symphonies. After the move to Sony Classical, Kulenzis and his handler Musica Eterna, who seemed to be concentrating on Mozart operas, suddenly released Stravinsky's controversial "Rite of Spring" in the midst of their recording, which opened the door to contemporary music. In 2014, Kulenzis teamed up with renowned Italian director Romeo Castellucci for an unprecedented performance at Germany's Ruhr Triennale.
