Schubert (1797-1828)

Description:

The three symphonies ending with the brilliant and powerful C major symphony, which is a masterpiece of Vant's on the Profil label, are now available in SACD hybrid format. Licensed by the Altus label, this hybrid release features the latest remastering of the CD and SACD layers for the most realistic sound quality ever achieved. The great master Günter Wandt's great live recording with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. The recording includes three symphonies in which Wandt excels, concluding with the powerful C major symphony. The generously played opening section of "The Great" is full of boundless grandeur, while Brahms' incendiary, fast-tempo opening section is truly urgent and tense, and the music is compellingly convincing. As if to prove that the length of the piece is perfect for the necessary music, Vant's masterful performance is built on a large scale while at the same time meticulously balancing and setting the tempo. The inevitable sequence of events that continues until the very last note overwhelms the listener. Beethoven's First Symphony also has a wonderfully tight sound, and this performance captures the innovative nature of the work without hesitation. The expressive singing that emerges from the orchestra at various parts of each piece is also irresistible. In addition to the music commentaries, the commentaries include manuscripts written by Atsuya Funaki on Munich and Wand as Bruckner cities, and by Shigeo Itakura on the detailed history of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
