Treasure Ark, a series of quality live recordings! Four previously unrecorded songs are included! Joni Mitchell's live performance at Club 47 in Cambridge, Massachusetts in January 1968, just before her album debut! Her debut album "Song to a Seagull" was released in March 1968, but the recording is said to have taken place around January 1968, two months before that, so this show was probably held just before the recording. With Buffy St. Mary's hit "Circle Game" and Judy Collins' hit "Both Sides Now," Joni was probably already a well-known songwriter on the folk circuit, but she was not yet well known in the general public. At this time, she was playing nearly 200 shows a year, mainly at coffeehouses and other venues, as far as records show. Joni was discovered by David Crosby, who happened to be in the store on September 29, 1967, during a series of appearances at the Gaslight Café in Coconut Grove, Florida, and was given the opportunity to make his record debut. Joni's famous open tunings, which are said to have more than 60 patterns, had already been completed.Song to a Seagull, produced by David Crosby, was almost entirely Joni's acoustic guitar playing, and the sound was naturally clean and tidy, but this performance at Club 47 has a really raw guitar sound, and Joni's storytelling-like talk The performance at Club 47 is a real treat, with the guitar sounding very raw and Joni's storytelling talk giving us a taste of what folk clubs were like back then. You can also hear how innovative Joni's playing was in this context. In particular, enthusiastic fans will love the part where she changes tunings while taking MC. It is also noteworthy that four unrecorded songs are played.
