This is the 20th anniversary edition (remastered) of The Shins' second album, "Shoots to Narrow," which has ranked in the U.S. charts and earned a gold disc. This historic work has been ranked among the best of the decade by various media. This is the 2023 edition of The Shins' beloved second album, "Chutes Too Narrow," a 20th anniversary edition supervised by band leader James Mercer and remastered by Adam Ayan. Chutes Too Narrow is the follow-up to the band's 2001 debut and breakthrough album, Oh, Inverted World. At the time, singer/songwriter/guitarist James Mercer and drummer Jesse Sandoval had moved from Albuquerque to Portland, Oregon, where they replaced bassist Neal Langford, who had played bass on the first album's signature track, "New Slang. Dave Hernandez, formerly of Scared Of Chaka, who played bass on the first album's signature song "New Slang," joined the band.The album was recorded in James' basement home studio and later mixed by Phil Ek (Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, David Cross, Les Savy Fav, etc.). Released in 2003, the album was awarded Best New Music by Pitchfork and 4 stars by Rolling Stone, NewYork Times, MOJO, Village Voice, SPIN, and others also praised the album. It was subsequently ranked among The AV Club, NME, Paste, Pitchfork, and Uncut's Best of the Decade.
