Four years after their last Grammy Award-winning album, they have expanded their traditional approach to incorporate creative electronics and orchestral elements in their new album, "In Between Thoughts... A New World". Guitar virtuoso Rodrigo y Gabriela has released a new album, "In Between Thoughts.... .A New World" to be released on ATO Records. This is the duo's first work in four years, following the Grammy Award-winning "Mettavolution" in 2019, and is the duo's most revelatory work to date. The album was self-produced by Rodrigo y Gabriela at his studio in Ixtapa, Mexico. It expands on their traditional approach, incorporating inventive electronics and orchestral elements.As a testament to the expressiveness and depth of the duo's musicality, In Between Thoughts leads the listener wordlessly through a complex narrative with plot, emotion, and dramatic tension. The album was mixed by James Monti (The Who, The Head and the Heart) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Tame Impala, Beach House) and deviates significantly from its signature acoustic sound. Through the exquisite use of analog synths, mellotrons, and other electronic instruments, Rodrigo swaps his acoustic guitar for an electric one, elegantly amplifying the mercurial new energy. The duo's meandering arrangements are also embellished with lush strings and powerful percussion, thanks to the collaboration of Viennese composer Adam Ilyas Kuruc and the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra.On the other hand, even though the album ventures into uncharted sonic territory, it draws much of its power from the singular dynamism that has always distinguished Rodrigo y Gabriela's music. The album's most striking feature is the delicate interplay between Gabriela's powerful, percussive strumming and Rodrigo's breathless, fast, and complex lead guitar playing.
