Mozart (1756-1791)
Description:
Markus Becker and the Merlot Woodwind Quintet! Various pieces by Mozart with piano and woodwind quintet! Mozart by German music specialist Markus Becker! The Marlott Woodwind Quintet, which has released many famous woodwind quintet arrangements! Brilliant arrangements from Mozart's Overtures, Symphonies, and Piano Concertos! This is a new recording by Markus Becker and the Marlott Woodwind Quintet, who made a splash with their arrangement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto "No. 0" on their previous release (8553110). This is a very intriguing collection of arrangements of Mozart's symphonies and overtures for woodwind quintet and piano concerto for piano and woodwind quintet. Mozart's originally lean music is brought to life in these brilliant arrangements by Wolf-Guido Schaeffer, clarinetist of the Marlott Woodwind Quintet and well known for his arrangements for various woodwind ensembles. The Maalot Woodwind Quintet's keen insight and solid technique are the reason why Mozart's brilliant sound is performed in a more graceful and elegant manner, conveying the essence of Mozart's music without being overly flamboyant. The piano is played by German musical genius Markus Becker. Their CDs, released on numerous labels, have been highly acclaimed, winning the German "ECHO Klassik Award," the "German Critics' Prize," and the "Editor's Choice" award from Gramophone magazine. The orchestra is particularly well known for its Reger works, but the Mozart works on this occasion also showcase the orchestra's abilities to the fullest, with the Marlott Woodwind Quintet providing a superb ensemble performance. The Marlott Woodwind Quintet was founded in 1986 and has been one of the world's leading chamber ensembles ever since. Flutist Stephanie Winkler was principal flute of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra until 2014, and the other members of the quintet have also worked as orchestral players and are now active as educators.
