Description:
Ries arranged piano quartet version of Beethoven's "Hero"! This is the third album by the German piano quartet "Flex Ensemble" with Hannover-based violinist Kana Sugimura. As a commemorative recording for the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, they recorded an interesting program: a piano quartet version of Symphony No. 3 "Hero". The arrangement is by Ferdinand Ries, a pianist who was a pupil and friend of Beethoven. The piano quartet version of "Hero," which has not been performed very often, is interspersed with a contemporary Beethoven-inspired work commissioned from the Canadian composer Gordon Williamson (b.1974), who lives in Hanover.
