Description:
Orontaea" by Cesti, a leading opera composer of the Venetian school of mid-Baroque music, was composed in Innsbruck in 1656 and premiered in Venice, where it is as popular as Cavalli's "Giazone" and is known as the most successful comedy of the late 17th century. It is known as one of the most successful comedies of the second half of the 17th century. It depicts a "national riot," which was the mainstream at the time, in which Orontesia, the Egyptian queen who refuses to marry the wise Creonte, happens to fall in love with a young painter named Alidoro, who is after her. The story is a big commotion involving Giacinta, who is after Aridoro, Syrandra, who is in love with Aridoro, and other characters, but in the end, Aridoro turns out to be the missing Phoenician prince Floridano, and everything comes to a happy end. Ivor Bolton's fast-paced musical direction and the passionate singing of the singers made this a much-talked-about performance. Naxos Japan
