Hansjörg Albrecht is more well-known as an organist who plays arrangements vigorously than as a conductor, and this time he has created an amazing arrangement and performance that seems to showcase both talents. The most well-known different editions of Mahler's (1860-1911) "Ode to the Earth" are the piano version or the "chamber music accompaniment version" arranged by Schoenberg, both of which have been transformed into airy music that emphasizes the clarity of the original. However, in Albrecht's arrangement, the size of the orchestra is smaller, but the mellow sound remains the same, and by having four soloists, he has succeeded in adding even more tonal variation. Of course, there are pros and cons, but the fact that something new like this is being released at the 100th anniversary of Mahler's death is also a sign of his greatness. Naxos Japan
