Gary Numan & The Skaparis Orchestra

Description:

Gary Numan, one of the giants of British electro-pop, has influenced many musicians throughout the ages. His orchestral performance in November 2018 will be released as a live 3-CD set (2 CDs and 1 DVD). )". The album, which debuted at #2 on the UK Albums Chart, was a powerful signal to the music scene that Gary Newman was back in full force. The following year, he announced a UK tour with the SKAPARIS ORCHESTRA. The shows in Cardiff, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, London, and Glasgow quickly sold out and created a buzz. From the tour, "WHEN THE SKY CAME DOWN (LIVE AT THE BRIDGEWATER HALL, MANCHESTER)" was recorded at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. ORCHESTRA is directed by Manchester's own Simon Robertshaw.Backed by his own band of orchestras, Gary performs songs from his latest studio album, "Savage (Songs from a Broken World)," along with hits such as "Are 'Friends' Electric? Robertshaw's orchestral arrangements add a solemn resonance to the dark and melancholic nature of the songs, and the synths and drums create an industrial sound that brings Gary Numan's electro-gothic worldview to life even more clearly. The contrast between Gary Numan and his band members dressed in the same exotic dystopian costumes as the artwork for the album "Savage" and the orchestra with face painting in all black, and the stage lighting designed for this orchestral show, also contribute to the contrast between his world and that of his band members. The stage lighting designed for this orchestral show also works as an element to enhance his world view. The band and orchestra create a soundscape that combines hard-hitting electro sounds with visual orchestration that is both industrial and spectacular. This is a live work that embodies the sound world that Gary Numan is aiming for today.
