The Authority of Dutch Ancient Music Asperen! Louis Coupland Edition #3! Bob van Asperen, the authority of Dutch classical music! The "Louis Coupland Edition" is the pillar of a recording project that is being carried out in parallel with the "J.S. Bach Keyboard Works" and "Froberger Edition". This is a collection of harpsichord works by Louis Coupland (c.1626-1661), the second most important composer in the family after François Coupland, the "Grand Coupland" and François' uncle. This collection includes the famous "Prelude in imitation of Mr. Froberger" and a suite of various preludes and dances. The harpsichord used in this collection is an original instrument produced around 1700 and housed in the Villa Medici in Rome, a repository of precious paintings, statues, and other works of art. The booklet is also a key point, as it includes a recently discovered music score and other information.The works of Louis Couperin, who was a close friend and influence of Froberger, are interpreted by Asperlén, who is also a Froberger specialist. The rare original instruments, Asperlén's research, and the performance techniques directly handed down from Leonhardt will open the door to the unknown harpsichord music of 17th century France.
