Stravinsky's World Condensed on the KeyboardThe complete project to record all of Stravinsky's own compositions arranged by Stravinsky himself for the piano. Together with the first release (WER-6683), all of Stravinsky's compositions are now available. This release includes the colorful ballet "Petrushka," the abstract ballet "Agon," which incorporates 12-tone technique, "Concertino," which is monochromatic and concerted with each other with a twill of accents, and "Russian Scherzo," which was written for a jazz band in the United States. The individuality of each piece is remarkable, as if each were a different world. As a young man, Stravinsky became acquainted with the Western musical repertoire through piano arrangements. This experience may have been one of the reasons why he also made piano arrangements of his own works. The charm of Stravinsky's music, which has no equal in terms of diversity and color, is condensed on the black and white keyboard and played with a high degree of concentration. The Buggallo-Williams Piano Duo has released albums of Kurtág (WER-6766) and Nancarrow (WER-6670) in addition to Stravinsky's music, and their technique is well documented.It is even a pleasant sensation to see the fine rhythms being played mechanically and crisply.
