Rare sound recordings made just before the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral that shocked the world are now on LP! Enjoy the divine sound of the organ with 7 seconds of reverberation on LPIn April 2019, the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris shocked the world. Latry was the regular organist at that cathedral. This recording was made in January 2019, just before the fire. The disc LDV 69, a rare recording of the organ sounding in the cathedral before the disaster, was a big hit in Europe and Japan. This masterpiece is now available on LP! (Fantasy in G major, BWV 572, which was included on the CD, is not included on this LP. In the 1990s, Rutley recorded Bach's major organ works for the BNL label, and then in 2003, he recorded Bach's Chaconne and other Bach works as organ transcriptions for the DG label. This is the first recording of an all-Bach program in a quarter of a century, and it is a recording that has come full circle. The recording is the first time in a quarter of a century that the organist has recorded an all-Bach program. The orchestra plays Cavaillé-Coll's large organ in the Toccata and Fugue and the Passacaglia and Fugue with skillful registration.The pipe organ's changing tones, which are like a kaleidoscope, are astonishing. In the Fantasy and Fugue in G minor, BWV 542, commonly known as the "Grand Fugue," Ratley consulted Liszt's piano arrangements and other works when performing the piece, and in the Fantasy, he added many chords based on his own interpretation. Taking into account the reverberation of the cathedral's 7-second reverberation, the piece depicts a truly fantastic world.
