A selection of Bach organ masterpieces by master organist Andre Izoard, selected from his recordings for the Calliope label, is now available in a bargain box. Izoard was born in 1935 in Saint-Dizier. He studied organ with Edouard Souberbiel and piano with Germaine Meunier at the Cesar Franck Conservatory. He won the first prize at the Haarlem Competition in Holland three years in a row in 1966, 1967, and 1968, and was awarded the "Challenge Prize". Honorary organist of the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. He is now one of the world's great masters of the organ. His Bach does not have an intimidating tension, but is pleasant and enveloping to listen to.
