The Trio Vandaller is proud to present the complete piano trios of Schumann, Brahms, and Mendelssohn in the form of a complete set. Mendelssohn's two piano trios are gems in which the piano plays a particularly important role. Vincent Cocq's beautifully rolling, pearly notes, which sometimes swirl with the strings and sometimes rise in a hot swell, are almost divine in their beauty. Schumann's Piano Trio is widely recognized as one of the most representative piano trios of the Romantic era. The first (1847) was composed for his wife Clara as a birthday present. It was composed under the influence of Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor. No. 2 was composed at the same time as No. 1, in 1847. The content is cheerful and positive, as if Schumann was escaping from the mental illness that gradually afflicted him, and Schumann himself described it as "sweet and lively.Composed in 1851, No. 3 was premiered by the Schumann family with Clara at the piano, followed by its public premiere in 1852. Clara herself wrote in her diary that she was very fond of this work, describing it as passionate and inventive. The trio is performed by an exquisite ensemble, and is full of the passion and ingenuity of Schumann, who was a very accomplished musician. The trio Vandalaer, formed in 1987, plays with great conviction and conviction. (The first draft version of Brahms' First Symphony (HMC-902222) is not included in this set.) HARMONIA MUNDI
