Canadian thrash-progressive metal band Voivod The special live album Symphonique, recorded in collaboration with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra Voivod, the pioneering Canadian thrash-progressive sci-fi metal band. Having charted their own unique course for over 40 years since their formation, they have released Symphonique, a special live album recorded in collaboration with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. The album captures their performance on June 4, 2025, at the Grand Théâtre in Quebec City, Canada. Fusing Voivod’s avant-garde and futuristic metal sound with a full orchestra, the result is a grand live album that unfolds like a cinematic experience, featuring a best-of setlist spanning 12 tracks and 73 minutes. As has become tradition, the artwork features an original cover illustration by the band’s drummer and founding member, Michel “Away” Langevin. Speaking about the album, Michel said: “This live album with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra is the realization of a long-held dream. In 2027, we plan to perform with the symphony orchestra in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, where the band was formed. I hope that someday we’ll be able to perform this show with local orchestras all over the world. This album is the closest we’ve ever come to realizing the ‘dystopian sci-fi movie soundtrack’ we’ve always envisioned.”
