Mendelssohn's two piano trios [No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49 (1839) and No. 2 in C minor, Op. 66 (1845)] are considered among his masterpieces, especially No. 1, the most famous piano trio in the world.The album includes an interesting bonus track, the original version of the song-like second movement (Andante con moto tranquillo) from No. 1. It is considered one of his masterpieces. Interestingly, the composition of the first trio was a test of Mendelssohn's "genius," and so was the second.
