CALIBAN, the spearhead of German metalcore, has poured all their energy into the production of their 13th album "Dystopia", a brilliant expression of the negative emotions they hold in their hearts. When the world's gates were closed by the new coronavirus in 2020, German metal spearheads CALIBAN focused their energies in the studio. The result was "Zeitgeister" in May 2021, a reworking of their classic songs in their native German. In addition, a completely new album, "Dystopia," was to be released less than a year later. The first original studio album in four years since "Elements," which reached #6 on the German album charts, "Dystopia" is simple, dark, and heavy, thanks to an instinctive and organic approach. During the songwriting process for this album, the band members avoided meeting each other and communicated remotely, but they felt each other's anxiety and anger. Andreas Dorner explains, "'Dystopia' means that the world is a fake. In the technological/digital age, you can be anyone, especially on the other side of the screen. The music video for "Ascent Of The Blessed," which was released early prior to the release of this album, was inspired by an imagined near-death experience and the questions that have arisen in his life about whether people are good or bad. It is truly a symbol of the dire situation and stagnation that surrounds the world, yet the band continues to call out for identity, solidarity, and hope in their work as they seek to rise from the ashes of a dark world.Guests on this album include Marcus Bischoff (HEAVEN SHALL BURN), Christoph Wieczorek (ANNISOKAY), and Jonny Davy (JOB FOR A COWBOY). Producers are Benjamin Richter, a regular contributor to their work, and the band's guitarist Marc Gortz, with former DREAM ON, DREAMER guitarist Callan Orr also involved in the production. CALIBAN, long reigning on the European metal scene, has reemerged with a fierce vision in these dark times. Welcome to their dark world (Dystopia)!
