PURE REASON REVOLUTION's second album since its relaunch, "Above Cirrus", is a deepening of the previous album and a fulfilling experience that shows the solid confidence of its members! After a long hiatus during which all but Jon Courtney and Chloe Alper left the band, the duo relaunched PURE REASON REVOLUTION in 2019 and succeeded in gaining new fans in 2020 with "Eupnea," their first revival in 10 years. The trio now includes Jon and Chloe, with the return of Greg Jong, an accomplished composer and multi-instrumentalist who has been involved in the production of the previous album. Above Cirrus" is a deepening of the atmospheric, cinematic, psychedelic prog world of "Eupnea" that was critically acclaimed. Prior to its release, the band released "New Kind Of Evil" and "Phantoms" in March; "New Kind Of Evil," the first new song of 2022, was first tackled in April 2020, and as the timing suggests, the title refers to a new type of coronavirus. Jon says he wanted to express his bewilderment at the roller-coaster ride that is this song, which is like an embryo born out of a tidal wave of anxiety. I thought it was a really cool moment when the synthesizer line and vocal melody intertwine and the emotion builds. Chloe also commented on "Above Cirrus," saying, "Since the relaunch of Pure Reason Revolution, the band has gained an identity and place within the progressive rock genre, with the power, confidence, and grandeur that they project through their work. I think. This album fills me with pride as much as it tingles me from head to toe.I'm excited for the music-loving community to hear it, and I'm hopeful that it will extend our reach," he confidently states. The artwork continues the impressive world depicted by Berlin artist Jill Tegan Doherty, as on the previous album. In April 2022, just prior to its release, the band toured Europe with the Norwegian band GAZPACHO as a special group, excluding Chloe, who was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts.
