Description:
Polish composer Roman Maciejewski studied at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin, then at the Poznań Conservatory with Stanislaw Wiechowicz and Kazimierz Sikorski, and continued his studies at the Warsaw Conservatory with Sikorski. Sikorski at the Warsaw Conservatory. In 1934, he was introduced to Nadia Boulanger in Paris, and remained in France until 1938. He did not return to his native Poland, but lived in England, Sweden, the United States, and then again in Sweden until his death. As Maciejewski's representative piano piece "Mazurka" and choral piece "Songs from the Krupje Region" show, his early works were influenced by the compositional style of the late Szymanowski period, and the tragedy of World War II and his illness during his first stay in Sweden caused a serious change in his personality, which also greatly affected his style. During the period of composing this requiem, he was indifferent to tempting offers, turning down requests to compose music from the famous pianist Rubinstein, the famous guitarist Segovia, and the musical director of the film studio "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer," the predecessor of MGM. With peace of mind and an unwavering belief in his destiny, he crafted his own unique music to complete the Requiem. He drew on the landscapes of the free country where he lived, cold, sunset Sweden, misty England, wet Scotland, green Wisconsin, and sunny California, to create a magnificent creation in an experimental and innovative musical language. Conductor Tadeusz Strugala, a scholar of Polish music, has reworked this music in a long-awaited re-release of the album to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Maciejewski's death. Warner Music Japan
