Prism, the fourth in a remarkable series by an up-and-coming string quartet, is a project by the Grammy-nominated Danish String Quartet that combines Bach's Fugues and Beethoven's Quartets with works by composers who came after him. This fourth installment, the second to last in the series, features Bach's Fugue in G minor from Book I of the Mean Clavier, arranged for strings by Viennese composer Emanuel Alois Förster, and Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 132 with Mendelssohn's No. 2 (1827). Music critic Paul Griffiths wrote that these pieces "all sound even better because of the sheer brilliance and precision of the Danish performers." Recorded in a historic concert hall (the Reitstadel in Neumarkt), the album is being released in conjunction with the Danish String Quartet's tour of the United States and Europe. Universal Music/IMS
