Description:

Christmas at the Apollo Ensemble! The Christmas story has inspired countless composers over the centuries. This recording brings together music for Christmas that is musically portrayed in an intimate and serene space, unlike the pomp and circumstance of Bach's Christmas Oratorio. The works include "Nun komm der Heiden Heiland" by Michael Praetorius, the leader of Lutheran church music, "Dialogus" by Matthias Weckmann, based on the Annunciation dialogue from the Gospel of Luke (the angel Gabriel and Mary), "Willkommen suBer Brauer" by Vincent Lübeck, a cantata in five movements with ritornello, a typical 17th century German structure, and "Willkommen suBer Brauer" by Vincent Lübeck. Bach German The songs include intimate Christmas music by composers in the pre-J.S. Bach German tradition.
