Shock! The long-awaited world premiere CD/LP & cassette reissue of "TEZETA" (1975), a cassette-only release by Heil Mergia and his band Walias the year after the release of "TCHE BELEW"! The original was released only on cassette in 1975 on Mergia's own label. It is a unique and funky expression of the popular songs of the time, and contains a lot of typical Walias sound. The fusion of the exotic sounds of Ethiopia's unique yonagari scale and the bewitching and chaotic band sound reminiscent of early 60s Jamaica is like a further inward thrust into the world of the masterpiece "TCHE BELEW". Mergia's organ, always in the center as if conducting the band as a whole, provides an exquisite sense of balance that allows even songs that seem difficult to understand to fit easily into the ear. For many, the album was shrouded in mystery, but Awesome Tapes From Africa has discovered it and carefully remastered it for this release.
