Description:

Respect for Bulgaria's history and traditions shown in the music Recorded in a church, the rich sound is also an attractive feature of this album. The ALIA VOX label, led by Jordi Savall, continues to present the origin of "music" that runs through the very foundation of our being, from a perspective that transcends time, space, and national borders. This time, the project is Bulgaria. With the help of Nediyarko Nediyarkov, an outstanding contemporary folk composer, this project explores the essence of Bulgaria's ethnic minorities. The melodies of the individual pieces are based on the exquisite and fascinating songs and music from the traditions of the peoples who have settled and inhabited the Bulgarian lands. It is the essence of the charm of the Bulgarian tradition. Some of the minorities that have passed on these songs have disappeared over the years, while others still exist and create their own unique and sometimes misunderstood "folklore".The music of Greek shepherds living on Bulgarian territory (Karakachani), and the unique region between Thrace on the Aegean Sea, the Shoppe region near Sofia, the western Rhodope Mountains stretching along the border from eastern Greece to southern Bulgaria and Macedonia (Pomak music), and the music of Greek shepherds living on Bulgarian territory (Karakachani), are all skillfully chosen to present the traditional world of Bulgaria with exceptional taste and interpretation. The music of the Greek shepherds living on the territory of Bulgaria (Karakachani). The instruments used are also very varied and interesting. The Bulgarian flute "Kaval" with a range of almost three octaves, the double reed instrument "Duduk" of Vlav, the bagpipes of Kava (large) and Dzura (small), the flute "Dvoyanka" with two notes, the traditional Bulgarian string instrument "Gadulka," and percussion instruments such as tambura, tupan, and the tambourine with its ring of golden rings. The sound of various percussion instruments such as tambura, tupan, dile (a tambourine with no membrane), and tarambuka (a percussion instrument similar to darabucca) are heard in abundance. The traditional melodies spun by various ethnic groups, regions, and various instruments are fascinating in themselves, but the album is also unique in terms of its natural and extremely rich sound because it was recorded in a Catholic cathedral without using multi-track recording techniques.
