Description:
The complete version of Albert Ayler's 1970 live recordings from ORTF (France's national television and radio station), never before seen in the light of day. 4 CD set, remastered from the original tapes! Elemental Music presents a complete set of Albert Ayler's rare live recordings on ORTF (France's national television and radio station). This remarkable album features the entire concert of legendary avant-garde saxophonist Albert Ayler at the Fondation Margue museum in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France, on July 25 and 27, 1970. Recorded two days before "Last Recording Vol. 1" and "Last Recording Vol. 2," which were released as Albert Ayler's last live performance. Some excerpts of these recordings were available on "Nuits de la Fondation Maeght" (Shandar Records) and "Live on the Riviera" (ESP), but the sound quality was poor and the recordings have never been released in their entirety.Over two hours of previously unreleased material from the group featuring Albert Eyler on soprano & tenor sax and vocals, Mary Parks on soprano sax and vocals, Cole Cobbs on piano (July 27 only), Steve Tintweiss on bass, and Allen Breerman on drums. sound recordings are included. This official release has been remastered by master Kevin Gray from the original stereo open-reel tape reels at ORTF (Office de Radiodiffusion-Television Francaise). In addition to the luxurious packaging, a 100-page booklet is included. In addition to interviews with Steve Tintweiss (b) and Allen Blairman (ds), who participated in the recording, there are interviews with Sonny Rollins, Archie Shepp, David Murray, Joe Lovano, Carla Bley, John Zorn, Reggie Workman, and many others who were influenced and inspired by Eiler, A whopping 15 additional interviews from artists who have influenced and inspired Ayler. It is also filled with never-before-published photographs by famed photographer Jean-Pierre Leroy and others.
