Arabella Miho Steinbacher, a beautiful violinist who has been performing in dazzling fashion in recent years, presents her long-awaited new recordings of sonatas by Franck, one of the greatest violin sonatas of all time, and by R. Strauss, whose 150th anniversary will be celebrated in 2014. Both works are masterpieces with beautiful violin melodies and a piano so dynamic it is almost orchestral. Steinbacher's highly authentic and careful musical expression and beautiful playing with an inner passion are the best match for these works. The piano is played by Robert Kourek, Steinbacher's trusted partner. On disc, Steinbacher has released the complete Brahms Violin Sonatas (PTC 5186367) and the French Violin Sonatas (ORFEO 739081), both of which showcase the ensemble's breathtaking musicianship.Franck's Violin Sonata was given to his friend and fellow violinist Isay as a wedding anniversary gift on September 26, 1886, and is a very warm and heartfelt work. Steinbacher sings generously throughout, especially in the fourth movement. On the other hand, the Violin Sonata by R. Strauss, composed in 1887 at the age of 24, is an incomparably beautiful work of youthful vigor and vitality.
