This is a recording of Rameau from a recording by Marcel Mayet, one of the leading French pianists of the mid-20th century. Meyer studied with Ron and Cortot, and later with Ricardo Vignes. He was also a friend of the circles of Cocteau, Picasso, Diaghilev, and others, and was responsible for the premieres of Poulenc and other sextet premieres. He was the first pianist to record the works of Chabrier and Rameau at the same time. She was also the first to record Bach's English Suite No. 4. Following Casadoche, she recorded Ravel's major works. Her advanced technique also enabled her to record Stravinsky, leaving a significant mark on French music in the 20th century. Today, Rameau's works are often performed on the harpsichord, but this poetic and sublime performance on the piano is a real treat.
