A session recording of the complete three-act version of Offenbach's rarely performed comic opera "Princess Trebizond"! Offenbach's comic opera Princess Trebizond premiered in a two-act version at the Theater Baden-Baden on July 31, 1869, and in a revised three-act version at the Theatre Buch Parisien on December 7 of the same year. 1869 was a very successful year for Offenbach. His opera-comic in three acts, Ver-Ver, premiered at the Opéra-Comique de Paris on March 10, and was followed less than two weeks later by the premiere of his comic opera The Diva at the Bœuf Parisien on March 22. Princess Trebizond" premiered on July 31. On December 7 of the same year, a revised version of Princess Trebizond in three acts premiered at the Bœuf Parisien, followed by the world premiere of The Thieves in three acts at the Théâtre Valiète in Paris on December 10, and the premiere of The Romance of the Rose at the Bœuf Parisien the following day.In 1871, 1875, and 1876, it was revived at the Théâtre Boeuf-Parisien, and in 1870 in London and Brussels, as well as in New York and Berlin. The Opera Lalla Foundation has researched and revised the three-act version from various scores and made a session recording with up-and-coming singers to successfully reproduce the richly expressive comic opera.
