9 SHOCKS TERROR" is a masterpiece that represents Japanese hardcore with a sense of unparalleled speed and a level of perfection that has never faded since its original release in 1986. Beginning with "TERROR," which begins with a reverse-rotating voice and a needle jump, the song structure, which moves forward at full speed with almost no intermission, dispels the somewhat catchy, humorous, and familiar image that LIP CREAM had up to that point. The noisy and melodious guitar of NAOKI, the raging drums of PILL, the heavy but high-speed bass of MINORU, and the vocals of JHAJHA, whose lyrics can be heard clearly despite the intense shouts, all fuse together to create a series of powerful songs that have reached an unprecedented The sound of the songs is unprecedented. The cover illustration, hand-drawn by JHAJHA, is a parody of THE FUZZTONES' "Cinderella" album. The lyric cards for this album were also translated into English for the RELAPSE release. This will help listeners in English-speaking countries to better understand LIP CREAM's unique worldview. Incidentally, the title "9 SHOCKS TERROR" was changed to "9 SHOCKING TERROR" on the 2007 ONI label reissue CD, but this was because PUS HEAD, an illustrator and old friend of LIP CREAM, pointed out a grammatical error. In this RELAPSE reissue, the title has been changed back to its original form to respect the original. After the release of this album, LIP CREAM started a self-organized nationwide tour called "BLOODY SUMMER TOUR," and listeners who had obtained this sound source flocked to their live venues in droves. At a live event held at Doshisha University in Kansai in the fall of the same year, torches were brought onto the LIP CREAM stage, and JHAJHA waved a torch that he had lit, wreaking havoc on the audience (some footage of this event can be seen in the video "LIP CREAM ONLY").
