Savar's first Celtic album! An intimate space filled with ancient and elegant compositions! This is Savard's first Celtic album with Lawrence King, who hails from the Celtic island of Guernsey, and it is also Savard's first attempt at a collection of folk music pieces all on one album. The recording uses two treble viols (gambas) and a treble fiddle, and is divided into eight sections, depending on whether there is an accompaniment, which instrument is used, and how it is tuned. Each piece has a background of Scottish history; for example, the 24th piece, "Prince Charlie," is by Charles Edward Stewart, whose real name is Charles Edward Stewart. He is the son of James-Francis-Edward (self-proclaimed James VIII), who claimed the throne and started the Jacobite rebellion, and grandson of James VII (II), who was exiled in an honorary revolution.The song is set against the backdrop of the Battle of Culloden, which Charlie caused.
