This is a complete collection of piano works by one of Armenia's leading composers, Arutyunian. His works, with their rich emotionality rooted in Armenian folk music lore, are known to have been highly praised by Shostakovich and have become increasingly popular in Japan in recent years. After studying music in Moscow, he returned to his hometown of Yerevan, where he became artistic director of the Armenian Philharmonic Society in 1954 and began teaching composition at the Yerevan Conservatory of Music, becoming a professor in 1977 and remaining there until 1990. He also began teaching composition at the Yerevan Conservatory of Music, where he became a professor in 1977, a position he held until 1990, and is known for having trained many young composers. His masterpiece, the "Trumpet Concerto," is popular for its superb technical virtuosity and flamboyant compositions, but Arutunian himself was also an excellent pianist, and his piano music is also technical, with some pieces having a cynical appearance reminiscent of Shostakovich.
