Dean, Brett (1961- )

Description:

The virtuoso Håkan Hardenberger records the trumpet concertos by Dean and Francesconi! SACD hybrid disc. Two "trumpet concertos" composed for Håkan Hardenberger (Hardenberger) (1962-), one of Sweden's leading trumpet players. Brett Dean (1961-) was born in Brisbane, Australia. He was a viola player with the Berlin Philharmonic for 14 years and began composing in 1988. He received the UNESCO prize for composition for his clarinet concerto "Music of Aeriel" and has worked with orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Dramatis Personae (The Characters of the Play) is a 2013 work. This concerto has a theatrical character, with a brilliant, energetic, and sometimes deeply introspective trumpet as the "hero. The three movements are "The Fall of the Superhero," "Monologue," and "The Accidental Revolutionary. The work was premiered in Japan in November 2015 by Hardenberiel with the New Japan Philharmonic conducted by Harding. Luca Francesconi (1956-) was born in Milan. He studied composition with Atzio Corghi, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Luciano Berio, and jazz in Boston. Since 2004, he has been a professor of composition at the Malmö University of Music and Performing Arts in Sweden. Hard Pace" tells the story of "a long and difficult journey. Can we talk about sound as something substantial? Electricity and technology have created a deep disconnect between expression and substance...... ability to "hear within"...... the greatest jazz musician and a huge influence on 20th century music. Miles Davis......". Various thoughts are reflected in the music. The first movement, the second movement "Adagio", the interludes "Miles)" and "Finale". For this piece, the composer used three "soundscapes" made with electronics: the first two, including one that mimics the "scratch noise" (crackling noise) of an LP record, appear in the first movement, and the third is heard in the interlude "Miles".The concerto was composed for Hardenberger and dedicated to Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, who co-commissioned it with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and other orchestras.
