Rachel Podger is one of the finest baroque violinists of our time, and this is her first "unaccompanied works" since the historic recordings of J.S. Bach's "Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin" in 1998 and 1999 and Telemann's "12 Fantasias" recorded in 2001. The "Unaccompanied Works" is a "Guardian Angel" with music by Bach, Matteis, Tartini, Pisendel, and Biber! The "Guardian Angel" is a collection of unaccompanied works by Bach, Matteis, Tartini, Pisendel, and Biber, featuring special tuning techniques such as the scordatura, bowing techniques, counterpoint textures, and heavy notes such as double, triple, and quadruple stops. The "Guardian Angel," a collection of unaccompanied works played by Podger, is deeply imbued with the passion and challenge of "unaccompanied violin" music in Germany, Italy, Austria, and England in the late 17th century, by composers of the same generation as J.S.
