Mads Mathias, one of Scandinavia's leading jazz vocalists and saxophonists, has become one of Scandinavia's leading jazz vocalists and saxophonists since his breakthrough in 2012, winning numerous awards and performing in clubs and festivals in Europe and Asia. He has toured Europe and Asia performing at clubs and festivals and concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London and the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. He is also a member of the Danish Radio Big Band. This album features Grammy-nominated big band arranger Peter Jensen, one of the UK's leading jazz arrangers, Guy Barker ("Jazz Voices" at the London Jazz Festival) as arranger, and renowned Danish string quartet The ensemble also features a stellar lineup of guest musicians, including Rune Tunsgård, leader of the famous Danish string quartet, Bernardo Aguiar, master of the Brazilian pandero, and Matthias Heiss, one of the world's foremost harmonica players. In addition to these, his longtime friends are of course still with us. His childhood friend Peter Rosendahl, "the Quentin Tarantino of Danish jazz" on keys, Morten Ankalfeldt on bass, and Esben Raup and James Maddren on drums. The horn section, which adds depth to the sound, is also a talented group. The title "I'm All Ears" represents Mads Mathias' intuitive approach to music, calling us to open our ears to different ways of listening, and to listen beyond music to other people, cultures, and stories.The nine swinging original songs on this album were born from this idea. The light voice of Mads Mathias and the pop tunes match each other and keep you on the edge of your seat. A must-listen for lovers of Jamie Cullum and Harry Connick Jr.
