Description:
The definitive 7-LP box set covering Madlib’s iconic instrumental series Madlib is the BeatKonducta—a one-of-a-kind artist who may be imitated, but can never be replicated. The *BeatKonducta Box Set* is a deluxe 7-LP box set that brings together for the first time all seven albums of Madlib’s iconic instrumental series *BeatKonducta*, which had long been out of print. All seven records are housed in a heavyweight slipcase. This definitive collection captures a pivotal period in Madlib’s career as a producer, tracing the beats he created between 1994 and 2008. Throughout the series, Madlib drew inspiration from his uniquely eclectic record collection—ranging from 1970s film and TV library music to Bollywood soundtracks and Indian music from the 1960s through the 1980s. In the latter half of the series, *Vol. 5–6: Dil Cosby Suite & Dil Withers Suite*, Madlib pays tribute to his late collaborator and friend J Dilla, with J. Rocc also contributing. For the first time, Volumes 1–2, 3–4, and 5–6 are each presented in a 2-LP gatefold format. All are pressed on classic black vinyl. Additionally, exclusive to this box set, Vol. 0: *Earth Sounds* is included on “Northern Lights” green vinyl. Recorded around 1994–1996 and first released as a limited edition in 2001, this is a valuable collection documenting Madlib’s early beats. The artwork for all 7 LPs features new designs by Jeff Jank.
