Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, the ultimate progressive brand, YES, will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2018 and their 50th anniversary in 2019. To commemorate their 50 years of activity, the band has been on a 50th anniversary tour in North America, Europe, and Japan since last year, and has released their latest live album, "YES 50 LIVE", featuring footage from the anniversary tour. YES 50 LIVE" will be released in two formats: a 2-CD set and a 4-CD analog set containing the same material. The cover design is by Roger Dean, who has designed the band's iconic logo and the vivid jackets for each of their albums, as well as the band's sound, and the booklet features many live photos taken by the Gottlieb Brothers.The 13 live performances on this live album are a strong reminder of the fact that Yes is one of the most enduring, driven, and skilled progressive bands in rock history. What is even more remarkable about this live album is the number of members involved. Recorded primarily from concerts in Philadelphia, the album features the current members of Yes (Steve Howe, Jeff Downes, Alan White, Billy Sherwood, John Davison, and Jay Sherren), plus Tony Kaye, who accompanied the band to Japan in February 2019, as well as Patrick Moratz, Tom Brislin, and Trevor Horn also participate, making for a total of 10 members of the Yes family. The performances on "YES 50 LIVE" are a rich mix of songs from the 10 studio albums they recorded between 1970 and 2011, representing various eras.Of course, some of the band's most important songs, such as "Starship Trooper" from 1971's "The Yes Album," "Roundabout" from 1971's "Fragile," and the title track from 1972's "Close To The Edge," are also highlights of the album.
