Ohlsson plays both Erard and Steinway!Garrick Ohlsson, the renowned American pianist who won first prize at the Busoni International Piano Competition in 1966, the Montreal International Competition in 1968, and the 8th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1970.2018 In August, Ohlsson, who received the "Gloria Artis Gold Medal" of the Polish Ministry of Culture for his achievements in Chopin performance and teaching, makes his first appearance on NIFC, the independent label of the Polish National Chopin Institute. This is a unique project of NIFC, in which he will play both "period piano" and "modern piano" in exactly the same program, as he has done before with Dan Tai Son (Nocturnes) and Krzysztof Jabłoński (Practice Pieces). Garrick Ohlsson played both the 1849 Erard piano and the Steinway (D 578221), and recorded Scherzo No. 4, Ballade No. 1, and a collection of poetic nocturnes and mazurkas.
